The construction of the new Montessori school in the Sluisbuurt started on Monday afternoon, April 15 2024.

Together with our colleagues from MDLX b.v., we visited the CLT factory of X-Works in Oberhonnefeld-Gierend. The purpose of our visit is to gain confidence in their production and to build a personal contact.

The work within SIDstudio is often related to timber construction. All projects with MDLX are smart wooden structures. To be able to make really thoughtful designs, it is simply crucial to know how the production is going. What is and isn’t possible.

Our visit has given us a lot of ideas, and certainly also relations with whom we want to carry out many more projects.

Today was the first day of C the Future at the MAAK site in Haarlem – where SIDstudio is located.
C The Future is the two-day event where technology, digitization, circularity, learning and innovation come together.

Arjan Habraken of SIDstudio gave a lecture on Circular Building. What challenges do we face, what developments are there and how is SIDstudio in collaboration with MDLX working on the latest developments in bio-based modular buildings? An extremely interesting lecture that eventually resulted in a fascinating conversation between all those present.

SIDstudio thanks the organization for this annual extremely educational event.

ZJA brought many colleagues and friends together again at AFFS in Rotterdam. SIDstudio is always there with great pleasure.

In the cinema we first listened to a presentation by Arav Kumar, architect at ZJA. He talked about the architecture of virtual spaces. Where do we go with the mutual communication and the world of imaginations.

Then, the always inspiring, Jord den Hollander invited us on a wonderful journey through film fragments, in which connections arise between the most diverse spatial designs.

Afterwards, with the presence of Rem Koolhaas, a film of one of his special designs was shown, followed by a conversation between Rem Koolhaas and Jord den Hollander.

On 2 October the Pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia opened her doors at Expo 2023 in Doha Qatar. The pavilions architectural articulation forms an embrace of a landscape filled with innovations and green initiatives, while the main immersive show forms a beautiful and emotional expression of those stories.

On Wednesday 13 September, the annual partner event took place at Pampus. In it we were able to speak to the partners involved and look at the status of the various construction projects in which SIDstudio is involved on the island (entrance building, energy cellar, shed, sandbank and light weight roof structure).
The director Tom van Nouhuys received all partners on the west terrace, to emphasize once again how unique and innovative the program is that we are currently realizing. And not only Tom, but also Minister Rob Jetten complimented the company on the developments in a catchy video message.
Then we all walked across the island, from the shed building, to the vegetable gardens to the heart of the new technical space, where in a few months sustainable energy from the sun, wind and bio-fermentation will be collected and managed.
Of course, the afternoon ended with a delicious sustainable meal from our own vegetable garden.

During the company day “TASTE THE FUTURE“ on MAAK Haarlem, Arjan Habraken presents the company SIDstudio (as founder), the company MDLX (as partner) and the Tue (as assistant professor).
He talks about the vision and activities of SIDstudio in the field of sustainable structural design in construction.

In addition to being nominated for the National Steel Price with the Edge Amsterdam West dome structure, Arjan Habraken will give a lecture about this project and will be on the jury at the Hackathon 2022 (Hackathon@Staalbouwdag 2022).

From 1 October SIDstudio will be one of the companies in Maak Haarlem. We know this is our place to be. Without any exception all companies are inspiring and contributing to new innovative developments.

MAAK Haarlem houses companies working in the innovative and circular manufacturing industry. You will find a mix of companies that use, supply or facilitate the latest digital or circular manufacturing techniques. Within MAAK, cross-pollination between the companies plays an important role.
